Monastery Garden Seligenstadt
This monastery in Seligenstadt was founded in the year 828.
Benedictine monks lived here for hundreds of years. They culivated the monastery garden with different
species of apple trees, peaches, figs, and many roses. In a smaller part of the garden, medicinal herbs
and also pot-herbs were planted.
Normally at this time of day on a Saturday, the garden and the café would be full with families,
enjoying the sunny day. But not today. This photo was taken one minute before Germany scored the first
goal in the FIFA World Cup match Germany vs Sweden ...
